Wednesday wants....

I love boots and bags......here are a few of my lusts of late!

Love these frye boots.  And are on sale on Sierra Trading Post right now.  I have stalked them for months :)
This tote is new from Filson, and one of my favorites.  I have it in the white color, and think that this will be my next.  It is a great size for to/from work, travel, and even a purse....if you are a big purse girl like me!

Home improvements

My entire weekend was spent on home improvements and moving furniture. We have been holding out buying a dining room table, since I was going to have access to one that was my grandparents.  Never having seen it, I had no idea what to expect.
I could not be more thrilled! I should have known because 1. My grandmother has great taste and 2. it was originally purchased for Bozeman, Montana....so it fits perfectly into our rustic house. And I am so much happier having a table that was in my family than one I buy from a store!

Can you tell I love trellis? I scored these placemats from TJ Maxx....AND they had 8 of them.  Lucky girl! The long candle I got from Joss and Main.  Helps to have a best friend who is an interior designer, who sends you links to things that go perfectly :)

I also got this foyer table from my grandparents - it fits perfectly!

Southern Sass

Lauren from atouchofsoutherngrace.com listed me for "southern sass".  I am about two weeks late (sorry) in replying but here goes....

The Questions:
1.             Why did you start blogging?
2.            Who/what has inspired your style the most?
3.            What are your top three favorite stores?
4.            What are your top ten fall essentials?
5.            What was your most recent purchase?
6.            What is your favorite Lilly print and why?
7.             How would you describe your style in three words?
8.            What is your favorite monogramming store?

My Answers:
1.          I love fashion and all things preppy and sporting.  Because of my career in apparel, and my love to help others find clothes and put outfits together, I thought this would be a fun project for me. I also always get questions from friends and friends of friends who find my job fascinating.....so I thought this may be a glimpse into my unusual career path.

2.         My lifestyle.  I am very girly but also love all things hunting, shooting and fishing.

3.         J.Crew, Kate Spade, and Lilly Pulitzer. (Insert bias) Also, Eddie Bauer Sport Shop - it is the line I started for Eddie Bauer.

4.         My top ten fall essentials are: 1). Riding Boots 2). Le Chameau or Barbour boots (I like the sporting background of this style vs the more trendy rainboots) 3). Trench Coat (always in style) 4). Fur....I love it as a trim right now 5). Waxed cotton anything   6). J.crew matchstick cords 7). Cognac colored wedge ankle booties 8). Wool pencil skirt  9). Assortment of scarves, snoods, and infinity scarves 10). Quilted vest

5.         Black Le Chameau rubber boots. I have Brown Barbour ones, but decided black was also necessary :)

6.         My favorite Lilly Pulitzer print is currently Chiquita Bonita - even the name is happy!

7.          Preppy, Sporting, and classic

8.         Max and chloe for jewelry, and Preppy and Personalized for fun items!

Initial thoughts...

Monograms! Who doesn't love them?
I recently ordered this pillow from preppy and personalized...I love it! Our combined initials in burlap, so it fits in our rustic prep home perfectly!

A few of my favorite other monograms below!

Adam got me this monogram necklace for our first anniversary...

And monogrammed jacks? Two of my favorite things combined! I wore these at our wedding reception, with my new married initials.

Happy Tuesday! What are your favorite things to have monogrammed?

Charlottesville Fun

It's been a busy last week for this girl. Lots of work, a pretty fierce cold that wiped me out, and a weekend trip with the husband.
We went to Charlottesville last weekend, which is one of our most favorite places!

During the trip I of course hit up the Lilly Store I discovered last time...the Pink Palm.
They are fabulous! and having a great sale:)

I scored some fun jewelry, pre our wine tasting adventures.

Some pics from Veritas....

It was cold and rainy most of the weekend....so I lived in this eddie bauer waxed cotton jacket. I love this thing. It is more tailored than my barbour one.

Multiples

I read once that as people get older they buy multiples of the same thing. I don't think this has anything to do with age, but is just knowing your style and taste and going with it! You can never go wrong with collecting staples!
Here are a few of my favorite things, that I own in multiples:)

J.Crew Tippi

Won't publicly admit how many colors I own this in.  Every single one has been a great purchase, that I have never regretted.  They also go on sale occasionally, so I continuously stalk. here

Cole Haan Air Monica (from Nordstrom)

I have these in red and black, hands down the most comfortable flats that I own! And I am on my feet, a LOT of the day.  Throw in some ankle and feet problems over my 32 years and I feel like I am a pretty good testament to good vs bad shoes! I got both on sale for sub 100 dollars, which you shouldn't find surprising. Unfortunately they are full price right now
here

J.Crew Matchstick Jean

Best fitting reasonably priced jean I have ever found! I stalk these as well.  I have in crop (for tucking into boots) and regular!

The T Shirt Dress

Deserves it's own post....which will come.  But they are in my top 3 pieces of clothing.

Too many coats? Never

Working in outerwear/apparel for ten years, has left me with a LOT of coats.  A lot.  Most people laugh when they see our coat rack in the basement. "our coat rack" = the problem apparently was contagious to my husband who is close to the same number of jackets

This first jacket arrived in the shop last week....can we say GORGEOUS?!?!
It is even cuter on......if you can imagine.

Last year, I stalked this Tahari jacket, until it was gone.  Looks similar, at least I am consistent.

I also love this new one from Beretta.  A longer waxed cotton (I haven't met a waxed cotton I don't like), that is great for this time of year.

Hunting Skyliner = country prep meets function

Just saw some pics from an Eddie Bauer photo shoot that was in GA a while back. They are posted on the EB blog . Another one coming in South Dakota this fall (yay, some pheasant hunting!).

A lot of women ask me what my favorite item I worked on is
1. Skyliner vest (picture 1 below). I wear that thing ALL the time.  I love it because I wear it to hunt (shown below), to shoot.... but I also wear it mostly with jeans and riding boots casually.  It is very country prep/RL that way. here
It also comes in plaid (picture 3).  Super cute.....

Happy Friday!

Boot love

In addition to handbags, I have a boot problem.  I wear them every single day from fall until the spring (in Seattle this meant I wore boots 9 months a year)
I am meticulous in caring for them, so they last forever.  Frye is by far my favorite. They last twice as long as any other brand....making them worth every penny. In the past, my boots were toast after just one season! And for once, having big feet pays off....as I have scored every pair of frye's I own on sale.  (woot!).

I am eyeing up these. I love the color.....and that they work with black and brown. They'd be darling with a belted jersey black tee dress and fun scarf...AND...they are on sale. Must not buy. Must not buy. 6pm is a great site for discount shoes. It takes some time to find things in your size, but worth it.

I also am loving these clarks'. I wore them on a photo shoot, and they are super comfortable. Also more rugged than my other leather boots, but more refined than a rubber rain boot.  Pricey, but worth stalking....also Gore-Tex...

Blue and White

Blue and White is possibly one of my favorite color combos of all time.... (and not just because I am a Penn State Grad!)
Long overdue for posts of our new home...but thought I'd share my latest and greatest purchase....a navy and ivory rug for our family room!

I labored over this for weeks, pattern or plain? how much pattern? pattern or stripe? would it work? Could not be happier with the rug I finally selected. Sometimes stewing and endless hours scouring the internet and pinterest pay off. (or so I try to tell my husband)
More blue and white decor coming....

Hunting Photo Shoot

In just a few weeks, I will be heading to South Dakota for a hunting photo shoot. So excited! Lots of photo taking, but there will be time for some real pheasant hunting too.
(More coming later on what I will pack)

I did just get a new bird hunting gun! Take a look.....sooooooo pretty :) It's a 20 gauge & 28 gauge 2 barrel set.....South Dakota is going to be it's inaugural hunt!

Pearls...post one of a million

I love pearls, always have and always will. I love the versatility...I wear pearl posts almost everyday, including when I am doing outdoorsy things, like fishing and hunting. (don't believe me? see below for evidence:)

Since I have always loved them, I have a collection...some fake, some real. I love them all.

I saw this necklace ages ago on Moon and Lola.  Pearls AND monograms combined?! two of my favorite things.....
I'd wear this with jeans and a LBD.
just.love.

Bag lusts...

I have a handbag problem....first step is admitting it right?
They always fit :)
I also am a big bag kind of girl.  I carry around a lot of stuff (useless or not), AND I have a theory...the bigger the bag, the skinnier you look!
I love the below two....classic, sporty, and never going out of style.
Happy Friday!

#1 lust....Barbour Bedale Business Bag. LOVE. 50% off at Aaron's of Eastham, a GREAT Barbour destination.

#2 Filson Carry All - I saw this bag at an industry event when it was not made yet. It is fabulous. Classic filson color and leather, updated style. It is big...a tote for some, a purse for me....we have them coming to the store in just a week or two. Stay tuned for pics. (admittedly, I love Filson. I have the open topped tote, shown below,  and use it all the time)

Fishy

Even though it is going to be almost 80 in Pittsburgh, fall is on my mind.
Loving that fisherman sweaters have become popular again - so much easier to find good options!

While I am on the hunt for the perfect crewneck, I love that there are some new styles coming out.  I found this site, which I think has the best options...
http://www.blarney.com

All are merino wool, and reasonably priced And look how cute their styles are! Below are my favorites....I think the first one is my fav.

I also stumbled on this site, http://www.aransweatermarket.com. I  LOVE This longer tunic one. Super cute with leggings and riding boots for a chilly fall day.

Happy thoughts

Today I was feeling frazzled and completely disorganized. My type "A" personality does not like that.....but when I was running work errands, a lady at my bank I see often said as I walked thought he doors "I was just telling them, you are so cute. I just love how you dress."

It made my day.

This spring someone stopped me at the post office to say they loved my outfit,

It made my day.

Point? you see someone whose style, outfit, or look you love? Tell them. You may make their day!
